Hastingues is coming to Hastings in October

The town of Hastingues, east of Bayonne in France, was founded by John Hastings 700 years ago, around 1300, when the English ruled the whole area.  Seven hundred years later the Association HASTINGueS is bringing the two towns together.

On the 9th, 10th and 11th of October this year seven Hastinguots, one for each century of the English connection, will be here.  They're coming to Hastings to get to know our town -

  • to take us on at petanque
  • to play chess in Butler's Gap
  • to take part in our History of the Two Towns meeting (make a note in your diary - Tuesday 9th of October, 5 - 8 PM at the History House)

French lessons are also on offer - contact ianhastingues@hotmail.com - places going fast!

Also contact him for more information or call in at Hastings History House, 21 Courthouse Street.

Punch & Judy at Home - Half-Sovereign Cottage

If you couldn't get to the show, herewith on YouTube.

We were also interviewed on Carnival FM.

Hastings Old Town Carnival Week Live Punch & Judy Show at Half-Sovereign Cottage for the OHPS. There was a much bigger audience at the second performance, but crowd, pebble and wind noise, not to mention the constant beating of a hammer on metal rather ruined the sound track!

Sorry about the end - forgot to cut it!
